Chapter 21

My cell phone rang again.

Damn it.

I picked up.

“Moshi moshi?” My voice wavered.

It was the guy. “Actually, you’re at the wrong place.” He laughed hideously. “Come to the shrine next to the school.” He paused. “How ironic isn’t it?”

“You bastard –!! I won’t let you get away with this!” I swore at him, but was cut off.

There was only silence over the line.

I slammed my fist into the fence one last time before spinning around, shaking with anger. I felt tears of frustration. It wasn’t worry or fear anymore, I was filled with contempt and rage. Who could do something like this to us? I would not forgive them.

I took off down the stairs and out of the school.

I hoped I wasn’t too late.
